Church Camp 2K15 - FAMILY (3/4 - 6/4)

The topic for the annual church camp this year is FAMILY which is a topic that is closed to everyone's hearts. Being raised in a strong Asian background as being stated by the fact that we are all Asians, family is very important and is the root of our stand-being. In these 4 days of camp, we all learnt something precious about this.

I am going to write the whole big picture of the whole 4 days of camp. Maybe I might miss some parts here and there but here are the main points. Enjoy the photo diary as well!

The Father of the family is God himself. He is the ideal father and the source of fatherhood. God is the father of Jesus, they are eternal and equal but also there is a hierarchy since God told Jesus to die on the cross and Jesus obeys. We, as Gentiles are adopted by God since before we were the children of disobedience, aka Satan. However, through Jesus dying on the cross, we have been reconciled and could be apart of God's family. And as a deposit, the Holy Spirit has been sent to us. As being part of God's family household and family business, we need to know the calling which is to share the inheritance of the saints (1st Century Jewish Christians) spreading the gospel to those who haven't heard about it. Therefore I need to give thanks and maintain the unity with Christ, care for others and also imitate God.

Understand about longlifeness and that when you are united with God, you can't separate the relationship with your will since God is witness. He loves faithfulness and hates unfaithfulness. He considers Israel as his wife and would want us to refer marriage in light like Jesus to the Church. We should be faithful to one another. At one point of a marriage life, disputes and disagreements tend to occur and eventually couples would resort to divorce. God forbids divorce unless one of them commit adultery, when divorced, you are not supposed to re-marry another person as it is an adultery. This is why faithfulness is very important and those who can't commit should remain unmarried. Pray, so that the married couple can be devoted to the promise and remain faithful.

I also learned throughout the camp that being a single is also a blessing and a gift from God too.

Another thing that I learnt is that when parenting, we should parent according to the Lord. To love means to discipline since all children's hearts are folly and disciplining drives them away from it. Focus on teaching about God rather than achievements. We need to trust the Lord, fear the Lord, faithful and acknowledge him and listen to him and keep his commandments. There is nothing like loving too little or too much. Loving rightly and disciplining in according to the Bible and God's words is essential. As children too, we need to obey parents in the Lord's way. It has to be in Jesus' way.

It was such a delight to be able to spend 4 days straight with brothers and sisters in Christ learning about the bible. Despite the sad weather that poured for the first 2/3 days, and we were cooped up indoors, but on the bright side we were able to celebrate and remind each other of the days to come and to encourage one another by being present together with Jesus. It was a great camp this year since we had the time to explore the beach and national park that was located 20minutes away from the camp site. It was gorgeous. God is truly an amazing creator.
