Ko Arlingga and Ci Irene's Wedding (16.3.13)

Again, I would like to apologise for the uber late post.

On the glorious 16th of March, a beautiful couple has finally tied the knot. I met Ko Arlingga and Ci Irene in a bible study communion in UNSW. This is probably the first Sydney wedding I have attended here.

The wedding was simply gorgeous. The bride and groom looked really happy. I believe I saw Ko Arlingga's being jittery during the beginning of the ceremony though. I still could picture Ci Irene walking down the aisle with three beautiful bridesmaids walking before her. Not to mention, the canon piano accompaniment was just perfect for this match-made in heaven couple's wedding. Another exciting moment was that, I was really amused hearing their oaths in English. Being an Indonesian, I am not used to hearing wedding oaths in English back in Indonesia. I only hear exchange English oaths in movies.

After the ceremony, lunch was served! Guess what, the food served was Indonesian cuisine! Finally, I could satisfy my longing of Indonesian food here. There was perkedel, nasi kuning, rendang, cendol, ayam goreng.

My stomach was incredibly full. I could no longer take in any more food although I really wanted to grab those goody-goody cupcakes. But in order not to hurl, I reluctantly resisted it. When the guests had already left, I along with Raymond helped clean up the place. I saw a lot of leftovers all over the tables.

Anyway, afterwards, Ko Sui, Ci Grid, Ko Howie, Andrew, Raymond, Cim and me went to East Gardens to watch OZ! In addition to my first experience in Sydney, it was my first time watching at a cinema in Sydney.

We had to travel quite a walk to the bus stop. Cim and I were wearing heels and was facing difficulties in walking. We were walking in a very slow pace. To make matter worse, my wedge buckle kept on being loose and I had to adjust it again and again. Upon arriving at the bus stop and went stepping into the bus, I felt relieved and was rejoiced to sit down and cool myself down. However, after only a few minutes on the bus, we had arrived to East Gardens. Cooling time was over.

Watched at a theatre called HOYTS. I didn't know what it stands for. Ko Sui and Ci Grid got discount vouchers so each of the ticket was worth 10$ each. When we reached HOYTS, met up with Caro and Ko William (Caro's brother). 

I could not believe my eyes when I entered the theatre. The theatre studio looked similar to Gajamada Plaza's theatre back in Jakarta. It was really small and the screen was not that large either. I felt disappointed.

The movie was not that bad. It did not leave any "wow" remark to me at all though. 

Double Movie Evening (Les Miserables & Cloud Atlas)

I can't believe it's almost the end of January. I am sorry I haven't been an active blogger lately. Moreover, I haven't been doing much in my holidays other than watching TV series that I have transferred to my harddisk and watching it on TV. This is so much better than watching it online on the laptop. Screen size difference duh? And don't forget the volume adjustment in which I could increase on TV. HUAHAHA.

Anyway, let's get to the point here, another sorry of wasting your time on the first paragraph. There I did it again wasting a couple of seconds for a couple of words. Keep reading.

Today has been a more productive day for me compared to previous days of my holidays. I actually started to skim through my sister's biology textbook. After two years of never taking Biology as one of my course selection. I have to start from the basics once more. Yep, I am talking about animal cells, plant cells, diffusion, osmosis, etcetera etcetera. And I even made little notes too.

Later on during the day, Cim and I watched Les Miserables. Finally peeps!!! Finally, we have FINALLY got to watch this epic movie! I wish we could just watch it on theaters but then we were too late as they are not showing it now. 

Les Miserables, the title hints watchers that the movie is going to be full of tragedy. I'm a bit lazy summarizing the story for you, so here's the link --> imdb link

At first, it was hard for me to understand what the characters are saying because they were singing their script rather than the usual conversing script thing, I don't know exactly what English term we use for describing that. But my point is, it was really hard as they were singing in an English accent (I guess). However, as the story progresses I am able to understand the plot. Some says that this is a really sad movie. On the contrary my emotion disagrees to this and I didn't cry as much as I would have expected. Well I did tear up during the ending. And that's just because the ending is too perfect. And those are happy tears! Period.

The next movie we watched was Cloud Atlas. But then out stomachs were grumbling for food. So Cim cut down some red dragonfruits for snacks!

so delicious and refreshing. They would leave a pink stain on your lips. I would usually pretend that I am a vampire after sucking blood. HUAHAHA.. I have been watching too much vampires..zz

Now let's proceed !

 Another complicated movie. I have no idea why I watched this movie after watching Les Miserables in the first place. I think I got it why, you want to know why, I'll tell you why, that's just because I saw this trailer before watching Skyfall in the cinema. However, Cloud Atlas didn't show up till this moment. Why show a movie that would not being shown anyway. This literally happens so often here.

Cloud Atlas, the plot line of the movie is not as simple as the title sounds. The movie lasts about 3 hours. And it obviously drilled my brain wondering a lot of things about this movie. So mysterious. And in the end, after watching this movie, I again read the synopsis on imdb to clarify my queries. imdb link

It finally hit me while watching Cloud Atlas why Jakarta Theaters did not show this movie. Maybe it doesn't pass the sensory test here. I should say that there are a lot of  "no no stuffs". And just the thought of specifying it here makes my mind hurt. It was a painful sight! T-T

But overall, it was a great mystery story. And those of you who likes to connect the dots on plotlines like this, you should definitely give Cloud Atlas a try. Furthermore, I just knew that we could transform a Caucasion to an Asian my make-up. Eyes do make a difference. 

In a nutshell, today's film selection is the bomb! Both are super confusing! HAHA.. And this was the first time I actually had to read the synopsis to understand a movie. 

The Vampire Diaries

Once again, this will be another post of me babbling about the TV series I'm currently watching. And as much as I am hating to say this but I am obsessed with vampire stories. I am not that big of a fan of Twilight either. However, The Vampire Diaries is a whole completely different love story unlike Twilight.

The Vampire Diaries is another romantic, mystery, thriller, teenage drama that always has that cliffhanger at the end of every episode. It is about a love triangle of two vampire Salvatore brothers for Elena, the death ringer of their lost love past, Kathrine. 

This TV series is still ongoing. There is up to season 4 so far. I have been waiting for Elena to end up with Damon, the evil brother. KYAA.

Sweet 17!

After days of trying to upload this post, all the error prompts, I eventually manage to get this post to be published! Sorry for the uber late date. 

Recently I celebrated my Sweet 17. Just a simple gathering with friends at the mall. Last day of hanging out with Clarein too. See her blog --> Clarein

Just letting you all know that I finally bought white nail polish! A rip off of OPI but who cares, it works just fine. A little too liquid-y. But still it works fine.

Got a mini surprise from Cim, Vivi and Helen. Cim made birthday flapjacks! I would have never imagined I would get such surprise. I have never gotten a birthday surprise before. That is one of the disadvantage of having a birthday in holiday weeks.

At around 10:30-ish, went to GI to meet up with Clarein, Dennise, Darren, Devan, and Evelyn. Bought tickets to the Rise of The Guardians! Pretty cool animation movie. Well duh, Dreamworks always creates unexpected movies. The crew there are so imaginative! 

After the movie,we were all feeling a bit hungry, and so we met up with Eve first, then headed to a restaurant called Sumpit which means Chopsticks in Indonesian language. It was my first time eating there. Unfortunately, not a big fan. LOL.

 Furthermore, I did not know that the serving size would be so big. I was struggling trying to finish up my meal. I think I might be the last one to finish lunch compared to the others. It was so unlike me to finish last. weird.

Afterwards, stopped by at T-Rex Karaoke. Sang stuffs there.

I tried a new bubble drink too from a new store called ComeBuy. I ordered the wrong menu again. I ordered green tea with bobba with less sugar. And it was ultimately bitter! ew! What was wrong with my head. Kept on ordering yucky food.

As I got home, there was a cake sent from the bank.

 I opened the present from Dennise too! Thank you Dennise! :3

Soul Surfer

In the afternoon, after helping my mom writing down test papers for her students (there are a lot of students having their exams tomorrow), Cim and I continued watching Soul Surfer on the net. 

Soul Surfer, a tear-jerking film starring AnnaSophia Robb as Bethany, finding true meaning of life from an accident that had almost destroyed her surfing activity and other activities that require both arms. However, with motivation and during her mission time in Phuket, Thailand, she finally opened her eyes that the accident she had encountered was nothing compared to the Tsunami accident that occurred in Thailand. From then on, despite her almost giving up in surfing, she started to surf once more and entered herself in a surfing regional competition.

This is a Christian movie and it is so very ultimately sad! I cried most of the time watching this. Moreover, this is based on a true story too. God really works in mysterious ways. He is such an amazing God.

After watching this, my sister and I both went to help my mom helping students to prepare their examination tomorrow. I am really hoping that the students I taught are able to do well tomorrow! God bless them!

Grimm

I was feeling drowsy after I finished my chemistry lesson today, so I drank tea but still no effect, then I decided to watch Grimm.

Grimm is a TV series filled with magical creatures and thrilling excitement from a twisted point of view originated from the Grimm fairytales by the Grimm brothers. Not to mention that there are a lot of homicide cases involved. In a nutshell, there are mystic creatures, thrilling scenes and very alluring detective cases.

I've just watched the pilot of season 1 and I once more feel energized watching this 40 minutes episode. This series is beyond awesome. It's a bit similar to Once Upon a Time, but Grimm is more of an action and brutal type. But both really quenched my thirst of watching something depicted from fairy tales.

Oh yeah, while watching the first episode, there was a main theme song called : Sweet Dreams (are made of this) by Eurhythmics. 

I better should start studying now! Two more tests and no more school. HUAHAHA

Movies Friday

Just letting you all know that I am still awake at 2AM in the morning waiting for my Lorax Soundtrack download to be completed. Oh yeah, it's already November. A total busy month. I am going to face my final exam in like less than a week. And I'm still goofing off watching movies. g-reat..

Today is probably the most satisfying day ever. I watched 3 movies in a row. And they are all online.Well I watched one of them on HBO though on tv. Most importantly, my internet seems to be doing pretty fine. No buffering .. Plainly smooth..

First movie I watched today would be Romy's and Michelle's High School Reunion. It was about two best friends making up their perfect successful life to impress their high school friends during their 10 year reunion. However, they blew it off with a lame story and began to be ridiculed. Moreover, during the process, their friendship was hanging by the thread. In conclusion, they both found their way off of not having to fit in and be superior to be popular, they just had to be themselves for a change.

It was a total accident watching this. I was switching channels after channels until I came across HBO and Vivi shouted "Phoebe" and I started to take notice that Lisa Kudrow, Phoebe from Friends, played in that movie!

Second movie today was Brave. Yup, Disney's animation. I know it was too late to watch Brave. But so what. I didn't get to watch it when it was in theaters. Thankfully, somebody was kind enough to upload Brave online for free. Such an sweetheart aye.

In my opinion, some scenes in Brave was a bit dark and this made my eyes a bit uncomfortable. I had to squint and adjust my laptop screen back and forth. But still, no effect. In the end, I bared with the condition and decided to just focus on listening towards the lines.

Last movie for today was The Lorax. Another awesome animation! LOL. It was the bomb! The animation is beyond adorable. There are a lot of famous actors and actresses contributing their voices too. Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Betty White and Ed Helms! ED HELMS from Hangover!!!!!!! Huge fan. LOL.

Anyway, one tip for all of you, is go and watch Lorax right this instant online. So worth it. The soundtrack is awesome too. Get the torrent soundtrack download here --> bitsnoop

Overall, I'm particularly impressed with all the movie selection today. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I also watched Arthur but wasn't really enjoying it so I watched it half way. :(
