First time at Ritz Cinema

After a long stressful weekend with my microbiology and biochemistry reports being, I rewarded myself to a movie day and night out today. It is super cheap on Monday and I just recently found out about this. The ticket price costs 5$ on Mondays only for UNSW students only. I should have known this earlier then I could watch Spiderman and Captain America. By the way, I am going to state a synopsis so SPOILER ALERT people!

Anyway, I finally got a grip to watch The Grand Budapest Hotel, a Wes Anderson's film. I have been interested in this movie since the day Vivi told me to watch the trailer. The trailer is in fact super indie and awesomely mind-blowing.

By the by, this was my first time ever watching a movie at Ritz Cinema in Randwick. The place was vintage and reminds me of movie theaters shown on television. I love the place. It took me by surprise though of how empty the theater is at noon. Probably everyone is at work or at uni. You know what, I should watch more movies here in the future!

The Grand Budapest Hotel depicts a story of an adventure of the famous concierge befriending his companion, the Lobby Boy. Accusations, sadistic death, breathtaking settings, comical scenes are a few things I could think of to describe this movie. This indie movie will definitely take you on an enchanting disturbing adventure which may cause your heart beats fluctuate.

There were basically a total of 7 watchers in the cinema watching this movie. Well this movie has been released since April 10.. So yeah, I was pretty late in watching it. Most of the watchers were old people though which made me to think and feel proud of myself since I could watch something that young adults would pick last in their movie list.

Afterwards, went to grab lunch! At Noodle Inn.

<3 I would love to rewatch this movie again but I cannot guarantee myself in getting the same awe response watching it the second time
Ci Lily and I had our meet up session again today. We continued reading what we left off last week.

At 6:30PM, I watched X-men Days of Future Past. This is yet another film that I have been waiting for ages. Obviously I have been waiting eagerly since the first part of the X-men evolution. I just love Marvel movies. I don't read the comics and watch the cartoons though. But I watch the movies although I missed Spiderman and Captain America and Thor and Ironman... Whoah, these are almost all marvel movies being released recently.. I guess all I have to say is that I cannot miss X-men?

The main highlight of the whole movie is the Quicksilver scene. I know everyone would love the scene and usually when everyone love a scene I would feel mainstream and decided to not like it. However, for this particular scene, I must say, I like it despite majority people liking it. So, I guess, let me just flow in the mainstream current; taking a turn from my hipster pathway to a whole mainstream mellow lane.

ps: I have been listening to The Grand Budapest Hotel ost and it sounds a bit daunting for some reasons.

Gottago.. I am going to hit the hay to have a headstart  tomorrow. After all, it is my last histology lab. And I simply cannot wait for my second trip to Vivid this year! So stay tune for more!

Vampire Academy

I was awaken with a recognisable voice talking on a phone which was of my mom's and a youtube video concerning Jimmy Fallon which Cim was watching early in the morning. I regained my consciousness and blurred out the scene I was in the middle in. The rambunctious sounds quickly triggered my sense back into reality. I could not put together the dreams I had for the past 10 hours nor had I the least hint of what I was dreaming about. What I remembered was there were two familiar characters arguing and I was watching them. Creepy huh..

Then at around 9, Dennise called me up and asked me to get ready as she was about to pick me up sooner than what we had planned the night before. I was excited plus in a rush just to get myself done before she picked me and Cim and Vivi up. Okay, too many use of the word "and", sorry there.. Getting less creative in spinning up with words.

Baywalk mall could possibly be my new favourite mall in Jakarta. Not only does it have a wide array of cute tasty shops, but also it is practically empty. I don't know how crowded it will be during the weekends, but we were there on a Friday and there was no one; disregarding the fact of us wandering the mall at noon and went back at 3. That must have explained it being so desolated.

Our first stop was at a Korean chicken restaurant called Kkuldak. A bee on the logo sign really allures customers in to glance what this shop is like.

Without a doubt, us girls talked a lot of course.. Then it was about time to head back to the theatre. Being enthusiastic on the whole vampire movie thingy.. It would be super duper spectacular. I have been waiting to watch this since the very start I pressed the trailer thumbnail on the side bar on youtube. This moment has finally come.. But to my utterly disbelief, Dennise and I were possibly the most critical not to mention noisy audience. There were an approximately 10 viewers in the whole studio. Therefore, we were pretty sure after the movie, audience that got disturbed with our useless critiques could just easily identify which ones who were complaining during the movie. There were literally so many goosebump moments not in a creepy way, but in a cheesy way in which you felt really disturbed with the ditsy sketches and all.. But overall, the movie was great, the characters were pretty amazing and the actors and actresses were GORGEOUS!

This was probably the last time I saw Dennise before I headed back to Sydney though.. Oh yeah and Darren too.. Gonna miss them..

The Hobbit 2- The Desolation of Smaug

Finally, I got to be reunited with my most favourite sushi restaurant in Indonesia, Sushi Tei. I have been craving for this delightful Japanese cuisine since the long days in Australia. Not to mention, I got to feast on these after watching the most anticipated sequel of my obsession, The Hobbit. The time I had to wait for this sequel was just nerve-wrecking.

However, it was a major disappointment of devouring the sushis. Somehow, my stomach capacity has enlarged throughout my stay in another country. Seeing the size of each platter was just too minuscule for me.

But not to worry, there is always place for desserts. At first, we visited Nanny's Pavilion. But then after looking at the promo they were offering, we decided it was not worth it and after sitting for a while and glancing at the menu, we decided to leave the place and went to Pancious instead. A pancake treat for being a patient stomach.

adore this macha pancake

photo time .. can't believe helen closed her eyes
Ps: while watching the hobbit, we missed about 10 minutes during the start. We were late due to toilet breaks. Not to mention, Andrew, Raymond and Earl were later than us. I think they missed half an hour of the movie. Oh well.. what's past is past. LOL.

Exploring with Ribka

Another beautiful day for an excursion to explore one of the most gorgeous city in the land down under. Today's stop would be to tackle the museums in Sydney. Ribka is my companion for today! I have a feeling this trip is going to be legend-wait-for-it-dary!

Last night we made an appointment to meet up at 9 in the morning. However, both of us overhit that snooze button on the alarm clock resulting in us just waking up at 9. Completely surprised by the fact that I overslept, I quickly texted Ribka the minute I woke up and just jumped into the shower as fast as I could.

As you see today is the second day of the month but my mobile data plan has not been refreshed yet. I tried contacting my mobile operator Vaya through Facebook and email. Fortunately they replied me before I went out or else I could not contact anyone.

Anyway, let's get back to the main story here, I think if I am not mistaken, we caught the bus at around 10:30ish.

First stop was the State Library. I have always been curious about where the state library was. Since Angel kept on mentioning about it. She always studies there with her friends. I would never knew that the state library is equivalent to the public library of NSW. So after all this time, I have seen it before. Inside, there is a cafe and books (duh). Ribka and I were scanning through the books on the 'sale' shelf. I was filtering books out based on the prices. Let me tell you, that was easy. You can make decisions instantly.

Second stop was the public library which is located right next to the State library. I have been here twice but have never ventured on the second floor of this building. Apparently there is a museum inside. Jackpot!

simply stunning

In books lies the should of the whole past time.
The articulate audible voice of the past when the body and material substance of it has altogether vanished
like a dream.

I'm still coding this one out. Still remains a blur to me

how sweet

There was a children corner.

Who has watched Monsters University? Well, I did! This library remains me of a scene
in monsters uni. Such library EXISTS!

This reminds me of a disney fairytale when the intro was a narrator foretelling the tale from a story book.
This exists too. How detailed is this.

a choir book.

Next location was Royal Botanic Gardens which is just across the public library. This is just balls of fun. Great locations are placed near each other in Sydney.

I thought this was supposed to be Greek Mythology statues but it doesn't.

The statues situated at all over the garden are remarkably amazing! These embellishments supplement the glamorous feature of the botanical garden. Take a look at the four seasons statues below.

At sometime around noon, we were starving, we ate at Mappen. The sun was scorching hot and I ordered curry udon. Isn't it a great combination. In case you didn't know or notice, I am being sarcastic. Pardon the irrelevant sentences here, I just wanted to add more sentences to this blog. I don't know what else to write, that is why I am blabbering nonsense. For sure, if this was an essay exam, I would be penalised for writing to many redundant sentences. Oh look, I just wrote a paragraph of completely out of the box subject.

For dessert, we stopped by Chanoma, a green tea Japanese cafe. I have always wanted to come here! And at last, I finally am able to! It is usually crowded during peak hours at noon or during dinner and don't even talk about weekends, it's going to be really crowded. Luckily, when we arrived, it was practically empty. Lots of vacant seats everywhere.

Then it was time for us to go back to uni. She has to show up for the recording interview for GFI. So off we went back.

Later that night, Kriska and I went to a COFA pre-screening in Paddington. Super excited! Ate Oporto for dinner along with Untoro!

The pre-screening was at Chauvel Cinema and it was a great experience. The cinema reminds me of the cinema in The Sims Urbz. I know this might sounds weird but it is the best way to describe the place to all of you. I am such a bad describer.

There were two half sessions and in between that there was a 40 minutes break. I didn't know there were food served too.

sorry for the blurry image.
i kinda look long in this picture? i got stretched upwards ?
The animations were without further explanation were amazing. People are so talented. Bravo to them.
