Let's do the Time Warp AGAIN (Rocky Horror Show)

20th April, Monday
So my exam schedule is out and I have a packed one and they are all at the end of June. Good thing I only have 3 exams though thanks to Personal Finance which doesn't have any finals but a 60% worth financial plan assignment that I haven't even started on.

21st April, Tuesday
Babs3121 today was a calamity. Well it is always disastrous in my case. I have no idea why I keep on messing stuffs in the lab. I am just not good at biochem prac work. Why did I take this anyway as my major. Argh. Regrets always come last. Anyway, I broke a gel after doing so well with the pipetting. The gel was so fragile that it tore into 3 pieces when I was scanning it. Then worst of all, I threw it away not thinking that this gel is needed next prac. Great. I was worrying too much with the report that my mind was too focused on that rather than the practical. I later came to know that the report submission date was postponed. Should have informed that earlier man. Gahh.

22nd April, Wednesday
I was about to step out of the house and it was cloudy. I waited for about 20minutes for my late bus which I was sure would definitely come in a much later notice. Then the rain started to pour heavily. I was standing there with my wiggly umbrella and got wet because of the wind. I decided to go home instead and did not come to the lab. Great, I missed lab for the second time in 3 years of uni.. Not proud though. Felt guilty but dude, the weather was horrible and uni should have been cancelled that day. There was flood too in some part of Sydney. I got another notice later that afternoon that my other lecture got cancelled due to the severe rain.

23rd April, Thursday
Had my bacteria test. The time was so insufficient that my hand hurt and I was racing with the time. I have never been out of time before in uni. I usually finish earlier, but this time, I was running out of time. I couldn't even think fast and I just wrote everything that popped out instantly.

24th April, Friday
credits to Caro. shes such a good drawer <3
Chopped off some of Clarissa's hair off before going to bible study. We are looking at Proverbs that night about wisdom.

25th April, Saturday
Finally watched Avengers!!! Thanks to Tomas for giving me tickets after cutting his hair last monday. What was amazing that day was that there was a hail and there were ice falling down from the sky. And it literally looked like snow when I was on my way back from Eastgardens. The best experience in Sydney by far in terms of witnessing natural weather. Too bad there was no snow-winter wonderland in Coogee. Or probably they all have melted when I reached home.

27th April, Monday
I have finally submitted my babs3121 report on Site-directed Mutagenesis after much struggle and confusion. I can finally breathe and relax for a while and refresh for immuno test. Look at how hectic my schedule this year is. Today I actually crashed into Angel's Japanese class. It was great but the for the whole 2 hours, I was super worried that the sensei might ask me since I know nothing of Japanese. Oh I just found that, I could not read any Japanese words which ultimately suck since I once was obsessed with Japanese Manga and anime. Such a shame. Later that night, I went to the Indonesian Night Market to eat some satay padang. It was packed. I met a bunch of old friends that I have not met for quite a while.
28th of April, Tuesday
Yep apparently I was right that the gel that I tore was needed today. So I had to use Angel's data for my answer on the course manual. I ate another delicious food in Pavilion after being so faithful to Chicken Noodle Salad, I tried another dish since it was so cold outside. I ordered the wonton and pork chop egg noodle soup. It was the bomb especially on a rainy day. Afterwards, Sharon and I continued studying for immuno. Doing our last minute review together like last quiz.. Since we found that it was a great way to study.

29th April, Wednesday
Wrote my second immuno test. It was harder than the first one. I had such little time to write though. Anyway there was a BABSOC BBQ happening that day. Sharon and I went in to get some free grub. We got some free hot dogs and got a can of pepsi which was awesome. Later that night I was idly playing with my laptop browsing for musicals at cheap price. I was eyeing out for The Rocky Horror Show musical and there it was, a sale from smarttix. I was so excited. This occurred at 11 at night. And I started to contact everyone who said that they were interested. But apparently since it was late at night, no one replied as fast as Irene. In the end I called Irene up and I was so lame that I wanted her to accompany till the last step of the paying procedure. I have trust issues with the internet money system. And in midnight, I have purchased the tickets. We got the A reserve with a D reserve price. How lucky are we.
30th April, Thursday
I had a lot of errands today. So early morning, I attended the bacteria lecture at 9am. I was going to help Vivi moving out from her homestay place in Lane Cove by myself. However, it rained again. I thought that with just the two of us would be such a tiring job. So I asked Haubert for help and he was available! How cool was that. Anyway, my plan of helping Vivi out was postponed till 3 in the afternoon. So I went home right since I had nothing to do and I did not bring my laptop with me. At home I painted my nails so that it could match the theme of Rocky Horror. I spoiled myself with the Rocky Horror Picture Show movie to familiarise myself with the story and the songs. At 2, I had a group meeting for my presentation and had to leave first at 3 even though I booked the place till 4o'clock. What made matter even worst was that the lift in the apartment I am staying now was under renovation and we had to climb up the stairs up to the top floor while carrying the luggages. Good thing, there is mr muscle man who came in very handy. Your action would not be forgotten bro.

As soon as I arrived home, Irene had also arrived in Coogee. Our plan of going to Paramatta was cancelled because of the postponing of the schedule. Anyway, we went to Moo Burger instead. It was a good meal. I didn't enjoy the bacon and cheese fries since the cheese was too salty that it became bitter. We didn't finish it in the end. And took it away. We decided to give it to the homeless that we might bump into in the city on our way to the musical. So yea, when we reached the city, Vivi gave it to the homeless and his response was him shaking his head in annoyance. I had a feeling that he might misunderstood the food being as garbage. We were a bit hurt though. We thought he would be happy. -_-
When we arrived to the State Lyric Theatre, we were just in time. We quickly went to the bathroom, it is always the first thing we do. I was super excited. After watching Wicked, I got hooked to watching musicals. Well I don't watch all of them, I just pick the ones that I am most interested in. Since a musical costs a fortune. You know if I have earned my own money, this watching musical thing could be a regular thing.

The show was amazing. They are amazing! The costumes, the voices, the dancings, the settings, the BAND! OH my, the band was great! Loving that piano doing the rock n' roll. It was a great show of course. I regretted the fact that I didn't stand up to dance along with the rest of the audience when the Time Warp was on! My favorite songs include : Sweet Transvestite, Time Warp, there's a light, Hot Patootie, Eddie, Sword of Damocles, Rose Tint The World! Despite the crude jokes, I am just in awe! I kept on listening to their songs after the show. So pumped!

Cim's Graduation

I have a break today which was such a great coincidence to the fact that Cim is graduating today! How awesome is that. My 4th test starts tomorrow! It's Pharmacology! YEY [sarcasm]

I even brought my lecture notes with me to the graduation ceremony although I could not get anything into my mind though. CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!

BACHELOR OF COMMERCE

there she goes.
Later that night, we went to dinner at Kingsford with my mom's student. She was my kindie friend and I haven't met her in ages. We didn't talk much though. I was still stressing out with everything. Idk, I hate this.
14th November, Fri

I woke up at 2:30am today, I overslept and quickly started studying! I haven't finished at all. DOOMED!

Pharmacology is the first 9am test that I had this semester. On the bright side, the location of the exam was at uni and not at the racecourse which kinda reduce the hassle of transportation. It was a bit surprising that I could be seated around my friends. I was seated behind Nicole and beside Alvin.

The structure questions were not that hard but as I have explained from my brain capacity, I could only remember little points and everything else was a blur. I even screwed up a couple of questions. Argh i just need a pass at this moment!

I am so relieved though after these big 4 tests. I only have paper 2 of biochemistry on monday.

You would not believe what I did that day. I slept for more than 12 hours. I began sleeping at 5pm and woke up at 9 in the morning and did not even wake up a single time throughout that hibernation process.

15th November, Sat

Today went to dinner at Marrickville for a Vietnamese dinner at Pho PHD! I didn't take photo because everyone was hungry at the time and so I would be hindering them. It was a good meal! I love Vietnamese food! kYAAA!

I have been eating a lot and the weight balance lying around the house has been untouched because I do not want to see and know how much I weigh after all these food intake. I don't want this figure to stress me even more.

My parents are leaving tomorrow. Time sure goes by huh

Parents are in town // 3 continuous days of EXAM

Hey Guys, so I was in my study vacuum break in which I have one more week to prepare for my DEADLY finals.

8th November, Sat

My parents just came from Indo on the 8th because Cim is graduating. Cim and I picked them up from the airport. I was even bringing my pathology notes and was studying. Instead of bringing those cards that have the names of the people  you are picking up written on it, I was holding notes on Atherosclerosis with revolting images on gangrene. People were actually attracted to my notes which made me feel both insecure or slightly pleased that I am a medical student. LOL.

Anyway, we waited and waited, apparently there were a lot of other Indos arriving that day.

The taxi driver from the airport was kind of obnoxious. In a way that he was asking us if we knew our way to Coogee and he told us that he did not know the way despite the freaking GPS available beside him! Nevertheless, Cim told the driver that she was going to instruct him on which road he should take. It was very awkward during the whole journey. I honestly salute his effort on making conversations with us but then again I did not feel like talking and I was sensing some weird vibe from this man. Oh another thing that made me conclude his arrogance was that suddenly he said that he was not getting any instructions and he was driving and I quote "driving without a head". Well, as we were still cool-headed, we just laughed it off, Cim told him that he was experienced and all bla bla bla, he laughed too as we praised his amazing road mapping skills even though he said he did not know the way bla bla bla. Upon arrival, he told us the fee and we did not know that he added extra ~4$ to the fee. We asked why it was 4$ extra because we did not know anything about airport tax but at least he could have told us nicely. He exclaimed "for the bloody airport tax". Like seriously, why would you say that to your customers, I know that you have safely drove us to the right destination but why would you do that. I mean, why couldn't you treat us nicely. Is it because we're Asians? Somebody needs to watch Frozen more: CONCEAL, DON'T FEEL AND LET IT GO! I should let it go too. *sigh*

When we arrived home, Cim and I started unpacking my parents' stuffs. They brought us lots of snacks from Indo. WAHHH.. Ammunition for studies indeed ! I went back to study again while my dad took a snooze and my mom and Cim went out and go for grocery shopping. Later that night we went to Darling Harbour. Gonna eat some Hurricane Grill!

we waited for more than an hour!!!!!!!!! WHY SHOULD IT BE
SO CROWDED! next time, we should def book first!

glistening pork ribs!

lol ate 4!

it was about time for fireworks!

9th November, Sun

Went to church early in the morning and went around the city and Watsons Bay. It was so good for our church friends who lent their Opal Card for us which made travelling easy for us and FREE/cheaper than the original cost (2.5$ once and for all). I haven't registered for Opal yet because I usually walk to uni these days and rarely use the bus. I use the bus if I am late or I have classes early in the morning. But usually I just walk home.

the annual magical display of David Jones. it's a reindeer theme this year

ate at Chat Thai

papaya SALAD!

went to Watsons Bay

ate at Bondi Pizza!

the nacho was good! but i prefer Guzman y Gomez's

10th November, Mon

Got my first exam today! Physiology Test! The questions were completely different from the past paper. It was super bad. I had a hard time filling out the question. I forgot most of the information that I studied! It was bad. Such a bad start! I was in a mental breakdown too during the test. I felt like crying and when I had finished the test, I was counting the % that I would get and counting whether I could pass the course or not. I don't want to fail. Why is it always like this, I am never good at exams.

Later that night, we had dinner at Randwick at my favorite pasta restaurant: Isabella's. I did not bring my camera with me, so yea no photos. Sorry. LOL. Oh and I got Biochemistry test tomorrow too which I had not prepared. After dinner and shopping at Coles, I did not even have the urge to study and went to sleep. I woke up at 2 in the morning and started to study my butts off as fast as I could. This is what you call Studying last minute. I was so grateful that my exam started at 2 in the afternoon. If it was at 9 in the morning, I could not possibly think that I would spend time with my parents.

I felt so bad for my parents that no one accompanied them strolling around Sydney. Cim has work and I am in a middle of exam week. I have prepared studying 2 weeks before but due to my super slow brain capacity that 2 weeks I spent was for preparing notes and I had not even memorised anything. I just hope I don't fail anything in this semester.

11th November, Tue

So Biochemistry Paper 1 was not as bad as physiology. I could attempt the questions and I did not have a mental breakdown during the test. Although I was almost late when I reached the place of examination. I was actually 10 minutes early but then when I have arrived, everyone started moving into the exam hall which made me feel uneasy. I did not have the time to even go for a toilet break. I was seated in the front rows and so the test started at 2. I left half an hour early and took the bus home afterwards.

My parents went around Kingsford and had lunch there. My friend's dad showed them around in his taxi.

Tomorrow was my most-feared exam out of all! It was Pathology! I had some terrible moments with subjects relating to Anatomy. I actually despise it. It was interesting at first but when it comes to the test, I always have a mind-fart. I spent some time staying back with Alvin and Bryan at uni to study Path. They helped me a lot! I went back home at around 8 at night because I was hungry.

12th November, Wed

I woke up at 2 in the morning again to to some last minute studying. The exam was actually not that hard. But somehow, I forgot most points! I could only remember the first or two points then everything else was a blur! So hoping I pass!!!!! I don't want to repeat!

That night, we had dinner in the city with Ci Icing and Ko Jefry at a Thai restaurant called Holy Basil. It was a good dinner. I could not stop thinking about my exams though which did not make the night enjoyable to me at all.

Worst of all, I was having another stress coming from properties. No elaboration on this one.

ate at a Thai restuarant called Holy Basil at Shark Hotel in the city

such a huge fish

fried ice cream!
Despite the three days of death, I still survive and thankful to God that I could pass this hurdle of 2nd year. Moreover, I could also spend time with my parents.

The Fault in Our Stars

I did my histology spot test this afternoon. It was a great thing that Kevin and Alvin helped me with my last minute review. Or else, I would screw up more. They created this mock test in a form of pdf and tested me as a practice. This was unbelievably beneficial. During the practice mock test, I was again worried and was unable to think straight. I should definitely losen up a bit and have to pass over this worrying phase!!

The test was alright, up till the mid point of it that I suddenly felt weird that I have never come across that slide before. I hope I did alright though. The test was a great finishing to the whole examination period madness. It brought a great feeling somehow.

Afterwards, I treated myself for a movie out with Kathleen and her sister, Marsha (sorry for the wrong spelling). HAHA. We watched The Fault in Our Stars. We had an hour to kill and we decided to talk, catch up and all those girly chit chats to fast forward time.

The Fault in Our Stars depicts a love story between star-crossed lovers suffering from cancer. It is meant to be a tragic story but then again there was wrong with my sad emotion that throughout the movie I could not get the sadness within it. To me, and based on my opinion, sorry for all fandoms out there, the story feels a little bit too happy and surreal. In my mind, I kept on repeating this is impossible bla bla bla. I have seen better sad romantic movies but not this one. Maybe the book is better? I don't know, I am a lazy reader.

Histology Exam

Last day of my theory exam, and last test at the racecourse this semester. It was a morning paper, freaking 8:45 paper. I was absolutely paranoid about every anatomy test. I had a pretty bad experience with the gross anatomy test last year. I was super worried that my mind was blank and could not remember anything. And to worsen the whole situation, when I went out of the examination hall, I could see everyone smiling and grinning, while I on the other hand, standing solemnly at my grade destruction, so sure that I had screwed up. But, fortunately, I did better than expected and passed and did not have to repeat the whole course. Woohoo! Thank God.

As soon as the paper was distributed, it was a two-page paper. I instantly knew that this was going to be a hard one. During reading time, I started to jot down everything I remembered in my mind. But then, during answering the questions, I had missed a lot of points. The worst mistake I did by far was to ignore studying from the lab manual. Gahhh.. Oh well, at 15 minutes to 11, I could not hold it anymore, staring at a paper in which I could not answer further, I decided to turn it in. I have done my best, and it is time to surrender everything to God.

Later on, I met up with Ci Lily! Ate at a Malaysian restaurant called Alice's Makan. It was alright, typical malaysian cuisine with bombastic taste in your mouth. We went around the city too. Picked up some gifts at Daiso. Then decided to drop by the Winter festival in Darling Harbour. We spent our time watching people ice skating. It was fun. We saw couples teaching one another to skate. Boys are really a fast-learner in these kinds of activities. At the end of the day, I held a deep burden of guilt to not bring a camera with me. Thus I did not take lots of photos. But good thing, Ci Lily got an awesome photo camera! LOL.

That's the only thing that I learn at school

drew this last year Q_Q
Two days before my first examination! Time surely goes by. It is obviously beyond my control that in just a matter of weeks I am going to finish my examination, start my winter break, and begin Semester Two of being a second-year student. This is also my mid-point of my medical science degree. It has been 1.5 years. I tried savouring every second of this semester, but then again, I lost track of time and now I have to face my fears. I have quite a twitch of dislike for exams. I don't mind the learning process but I tremendously would prefer another method of being rated/tested/whatever you want to call exams are for.

Another thing I want to add to this heart-to-heart session post, I isolated myself from a bunch of people this study vacuum period. I totally miss studying together with people like last year. Solitude is the best remedy to catch up on studies. However, libraries are too full! There are a lot of other students who like me are trying to "isolate", but in the end, we are gathered in a crowded room together. It is simply great if we don't know each other. Unfortunately, some of these people know each other and they discussed every bits of the lecture together. I could even tell one of their names now from their utterly loud conversation. I kept on bumping the same people for the past two days in the same room that I had to move and find another spot. Yep, my crystal spot.

Wishing all the best to all who have exams right under their noses! I should stop procrastinating now. Toodles!
